Theodosia Burr Alston was the daughter of Senator Aaron Burr and Theodosia Bartow Prevost Burr. Her father, Aaron Burr, stressed her education during her childhood whilst her upbringing, much of which happened in New York. She was lost at sea at the age of 29 in January 1813, though the exact date is estimated to be about January 2nd or 3rd. There were many stories about her after she was lost. Her mother was also named Theodosia Burr, but she died when her daughter was young.
