The Hamilton-Reynolds scandal is an affair between Alexander Hamilton and Maria Reynolds that lasted three months while Alexander's family were away from home. It is depicted in "Say No To This" in Act 2 of Hamilton.

After the third month of the ongoing affair, Hamilton received a letter from James Reynolds, in which Mr. Reynolds said he would tell his wife about the affair. Hamilton, realizing the only way out of the situation was to publicize it in order to make sure the public heard none other than the truth, and wrote The Reynolds Pamphlet.
